Chef Sprouts 12/17/10 Holiday Party Mix

We missed John Henry today, and last week, too.  Hope you can come back soon, and I hope you enjoyed your Party Mix that we sent home for you.  This was a very fun day.  We made party mix to eat and share (Wheat Chex, Cheerios, Peanuts, M&Ms, with melted white chocolate coating).  While it was cooling on the wax paper, we read a great book, "Bear Stays Up for Christmas".  We also watched the Rudolph Express train chugging around the Christmas tree, and saw Hermey the elf and Yukon Cornelius working the handcar.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

That's the face of a hard worker!

Dog Treats Christmas Gifts 12-16-10

This class was a blast!  We split into 2 groups; one at the table and one at the counter.  Jessie and Lisa, being the oldest, each led a group of younger children.  Jessie and Kamryn were together...what a hoot!  They have the same sassy personalities and fed off of each other's snide comments all night.  Imagine 2 "Sam"s from "Icarly".  We were so busy taking biscuits in and out of the microwave, I forgot all about pictures.  I did get some of the finished product!  There should be a lot of happy dogs this Christmas.

Christmas Cookies 12-10-10

Making Christmas cookies is always a great time!   We were going to make cutouts, but then I found this great recipe from the Apples Family magazine.  They were great!  Everyone had one to eat, and took the rest home to share.  One cookie is just enough sugar.  "Moderation" was one of the words we learned when reading Christmas Cookies:  Bite Size Holiday Lessons by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

Chef Sprouts 12/3/10 Gingerbread

It was so nice to have Emmy back, and now her brother Cam, too!  And I was excited to have some new boy faces, Max, John Henry and Conor.

We made Microwave Gingerbread Cake and read Gingerbread Friends by one of my favorite authors, Jan Brett.
